I haven’t seen Easton since his one week old pictures, I can’t believe how cute he got!  He was one of the happiest kids I’ve photographed in a while, but he wasn’t afraid to let me know when he was done…and there was no changing his mind.  I really enjoy photographing kids at this age, they’re just so curious about the world around them, even the smallest things can grab their attention.  I would love to be able to see the world through those eyes again.

I think this is Reid’s 5th or 6th session with us, and he just keeps getting more adporable each time.  Here are a few from his 2 year session yesterday.

Oh, after weeks and weeks of babies it was great to have an engagement session!  Kris and Tara couldn’t have been more fun to photograph.  We started out in the studio like we always do, then we headed to one of the nearby parks along the Big Sioux River until it started to rain a little.  I wasn’t in the mood to get all of my gear wet so we headed back to the studio.

Avery is the third of Kelly’s babies that I have photographed, her twins just turned two not long ago.  We ended up having to re-schedule our session because for no reason at all Avery got very upset.  When they came back several hours later I thought for sure we were in for a replay of the morning, but after nursing she was out.  Whew, baby photography is emotionally draining but  it always seems to work out in the end.

Matt and Julie set up their session for 4 days afer the baby was due, thats the perfect time for newborn pictures, but we had to wait almost a week and a half for him to be born.  Poor Julie.  Oden was a joy to photograph, he slept great and only crabbed a few times.  I wish they were all good sleepers…

As far as I know we are done with the labor and delivery project at Sanford, but the hospital keeps sending me their nurses babies??  I suppose I could call and ask if they need more images, but for now I will just continue enjoying photographing these little guys and girls.  Here are just a couple from last week.

I love big family groups!  Formal in studio shots with perfect lighting are so classic and timeless, but not for every family.  For this group they wanted something “cooler” than the studio, something “urban” I was told.  With a pile of little ones I didn’t want to wander too far from the studio, so off to the Washington Pavillion we went.  We started out with some images of the entire family, then did breakouts of all the smaller groups, then just mom and dad and the 8 kids (yeah, 8 kids!)  Downtown Sioux Falls has such a diverse assortment of backdrops it’s hard to go wrong, here is one of my favorite images from the session made in front of the old Video Mania building.

I must say the the large canvas gallery wrap they ordered looks even better than I thought it would!

This is our second session with Maeve, 3 more to go before we can finish her “babies first year” album.  I don’t think I have enjoyed a 4 month old session in a looong time, but with so many great images and such a happy baby how could I not enjoy it?

If you look back through the older posts you will see a newborn shot of her with her hand raised too, so many questions…so little time.

Spencer was one of the babies that scheduled their appointment a couple months before he was even born.  He must have had a change of heart though, because on the day of his session he was more than a little uncooperative (thats new huh?).  We did manage to get a few great images!

After neglecting both my website, and blog for so long I have decided to merge the two into one!  From now on you will go to scottmeyerphoto.com and land here….at the blog, then at the top there are links to the different types of photography we do.  Parts of it are still under construction but since I let the old blog die I thought I’d better get something going!!  Enjoy.
